Local landscapes- a joy and a challenge

I have recently completed two paintings of Llyn Clywedog and a scene with foxgloves and a sheep. Each had different challenges.

I decided to do the Clywedog picure using just my fingers, in an attempt to avoid too much detail, which can stiffen up a picture. It was messy but very enjoyable.

The sheep and foxgloves picture was also a challenge as it was a muted scene colourwise- excpet for the foxgloves. I didn't want it to end up being bland, so introduced many different colours into the grassy area, which meant that every blade was painted individually, with changes of colour every 15 strokes or so. I did a lot of mixing for this picture and am pleased with the result.
